The Crop Shield is a classy yet functional, warm, and rainproof winter coat with solid eco-credentials that exudes refinement and quiet elegance. Made of our 12oz waxed cotton, insulated with Canadian eiderdown, the warmest in the world - The Crop Shield is a natural luxury gem.
With a sanforized 100% cotton lining, the advanced eiderdown insulation works with one's body heat. Thanks to premium all-natural fibres, our signature eiderdown coats are naturally breathable, creating a luxurious feeling of warmth and comfort.
Once on, The Shield feels surprisingly light. The large down-filled structured hood works as a warm scarf worn halfway down. Worn up, it is the ultimate protection in northern storms. Extra-long sleeves with adjustable cuffs gather on everyone's arm length accordingly for a perfect fit. The deep insulated pockets warm up hands and house so much. The zipped interior pocket secure valuables.
The full-length, two-way zippers that run up and down the sides of the coat make for an instant temperature regulator. Worn fully open allows excellent air circulation, making this coat ultra-versatile to wear in even warmer temperatures - like [10°C / 50°F degrees] - in comfort. The sturdy Swiss-made dark metal zippers blend in smoothly, aligning with our minimalist design approach and our love for ageless pieces.
Waxed cotton coats cannot be dry cleaned but clean beautifully with a damp cloth. The sanforized lining is water repellent and gets sponged clean easily. Airing every season and storage in a dry, cool place will allow this coat to last. Waxed cotton can be reproofed after a few years to bring back shine and restore waterproofness if needed. A wax bar comes with the eiderdown collection's coats. See care and rewaxing instructions here.

Founded on a quest to re-imagine northern climate outerwear, Olmsted eschews polymers selecting the best sustainably sourced natural fibres to promote biodegradability and minimize impact – all the while providing a luxurious weather-resistant coat.
In the St.Lawrence Estuary, the sustainable harvest of eiderdown establishes an extraordinary partnership between humans and eider. The benefits derived from the harvest have led to the acquisition, protection and conservation of several nesting islands in the St.Lawrence estuary.
Olmsted coats are made to order and carefully crafted in our workshop located at the mountain's footstep, in Outremont's neighbourhood of Montréal, Canada. Responsible for designing Montreal's beloved Mount Royal Park, Frederick Law Olmsted's legacy is a constant inspiration.
